Oklahoma's Kilpatrick Turnpike West Cashless On Sunday

KOCO reports, the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority’s Kilpatrick Turnpike is now cashless. “[OTA] posted pictures on social media early [yesterday] morning of crews closing off cash lanes and starting PlatePay [the authority’s new video tolling system]. Drivers will no longer need to stop at toll booths on the Kilpatrick Turnpike.” OTA officials said cashless tolling will improve the highway’s safety and reduce overhead costs.

Sydney Tollway Builder Disturbs Residents With Offer To Mitigate Noise Complaints

Brisbane Times reports, residents of a Sydney neighborhood include “unbearable” nighttime tunneling noise among their several complaints about WestConnex motorway construction. Contractor John Holland CPB and New South Wales officials have tried various ways to mitigate the disturbance, but the latest one only invited more controversy. An offer to supply Bose noise-cancelling headphones to the sleep-deprived came with a condition: that the recipients sign a legal document releasing John Holland “from all claims that arise from any inconvenience caused by the project” and forbidding their public discussion of noise complaints.
