Weekend Paving Work Put Colorado DOT's Refurbished I-70 Into Final Alignment

The Denver Post reports, Colorado DOT’s $1.3 billion Central 70 project was scheduled for “a  breakneck weekend of final paving work” with the expectation it would put the last segment of the huge project into final alignment by this morning. “When drivers return to the road at 5 AM [today], they’ll notice a roomier configuration that matches I-70’s eastbound side — with fresh asphalt, wider lanes and space for the express toll lane that’s being added. . . .” According to CDOT, the project’s remaining tasks, including toll equipment testing, will have comparatively little impact on traffic. Tolling is expected to start early next year.
