TCA's Samuel Johnson Recognized As "Transportation Trailblazer"

The Transportation Corridor Agencies announced that CEO Samuel Johnson has received the Transportation Trailblazer award from the Southern California chapter of the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials. Johnson said he was humbled to receive the recognition, adding, “It has been an important priority throughout my career to champion the positive contributions of people of all colors, ethnicities, identities and backgrounds. Organizations like COMTO spotlight the work we are doing, and I am proud to be in the company of the innovative leaders who are making a real difference for minorities in our industry.”

NCDOT Begins Using Drones To Enhance Routine Bridge Inspections

WWAY reports, North Carolina DOT has, for the first time, used a drone to conduct a regular biennial bridge inspection. Crews watched live high-definition video feeds from a drone to check the Marc Basnight Bridge’s columns last week. Officials intend to use the remote-controlled aircraft in conjunction with traditional inspection techniques.
