Biden Administration Releases Roadmap For Developing Zero Emissions Freight Corridors

Transport Topics reports, President Biden’s Joint Office of Energy and Transportation has released a 300-page “National Zero-Emission Freight Corridor Strategy” to guide public agencies and P3s in building out infrastructure for medium and heavy trucks. The document envisions a network of stations for both EV charging and hydrogen fueling that support efforts to reduce emissions by 2040. The plan also designates specific corridors for prioritization, including highways serving ports in greater New York City, Southern California, Miami and Houston, as well as segments of Interstates 80, 95, 10 and 5. Trucking groups, which have expressed concern about the lack of electric charging infrastructure, welcomed the strategy’s introduction.
