Illinois Tollway Rebuts Accusation of Laxity in Protecting Customer Information

The Herald-News reports, the Illinois Tollway Authority has rebutted a state lawmaker’s claim that the agency “frivolously” releases personal information about motorists. An authority spokesperson reportedly stated, “The Illinois Tollway works tirelessly to protect the information of our customers,” and “Tollway leaders are already on the record saying that they are more than willing to work with the General Assembly on additional ways to protect customer information.” The statement added that the tollway “does not release any data unless it is compelled to do so by a court of law, or an emergency situation with law enforcement.”
