Construction Of Major TxDOT Bridge Is Once Again Progressing

KIII News reports on signs of renewed progress in the construction of TxDOT’s nearly $1 billion US 181 Harbor Bridge replacement project in Corpus Christi. “[S]ince TxDOT and Flatiron Dragados agreed to re-start work in October, overlapping construction has helped the project move forward, said TxDOT District Engineer Valente Olivarez Jr.” Crews are currently working on tower foundation footings and I-37 approaches to the new span. Construction was halted for months before the state and the Flatiron/Dargados JV managed to begin resolving several major design concerns. Olivarez said TxDOT plans to release more information about the design after an outstanding issue is addressed this month.

Kapsch stated that its implementation contract has added significance because the facility, the E67 Ķekava Bypass, is the first highway in the Baltic region to be built and operated on the public-private partnership model.
