THEA Seeks More Volunteers For Expanded CV Pilot Project

Osprey Observer reports, the Tampa Hillsborough Expressway Authority (THEA) is recruiting additional volunteers — drivers who regularly use the Lee Roy Selmon Expressway — for its expanded Connected Vehicle Pilot project. According to a recent THEA news release, “Volunteers’ automobiles will be outfitted with devices that ‘talk’ to other connected vehicles and to roadway infrastructure to help prevent crashes.” THEA issues the devices free of charge and offers compensation in the form of a partial toll rebate. To be eligible, a participant must drive a Honda, Acura, Hyundai, Kia or Toyota vehicle.
