Maine State Police Announce Campaign Against Dangerous Driving

WABI reports, the Maine State Police yesterday announced “[t]hey are getting back to their normal [pre-COVID-19] business of enforcing the rules of the road” in response to a surge of distracted and impaired driving, speeding and poor driving behavior. “To combat this dangerous driving, State Police and the Maine Bureau of Highway Safety will conduct targeted enforcement details over the next several months” on the turnpike, other highways and on rural roads. A police spokesman noted that despite the past year’s drop in traffic volume, fatal accidents actually increased.
