Pennsylvania Launches New Initiative to Enforce Work Zone Speed Limits

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission and PennDOT announced the launch of the pre-enforcement phase of a new program that uses vehicle-mounted electronic equipment to identify vehicles that speed through active work zones. When actual enforcement begins on March 4, the owners of vehicles seen exceeding a work zone posted speed limit by 11 miles per hour or more will receive a warning notice for a first offense and fines for second and subsequent offenses.

The Intelligencer reports that a section of the turnpike in Bucks County is one of several locations around the state where officials decided to introduce the the program.
