PA Turnpike's Mark Compton Assumes IBTTA Leadership Role

IBTTA’s Bill Cramer interviews Pennsylvania Turnpike chief executive Mark Compton on the state of the industry and his expectations for 2021, his year of service as the industry association’s president. Compton says “Leading Through Disruption,” the theme he chose for his tenure, “speaks to the realization that, while [association members and staff] all want to get back to a sense of normalcy, we cannot — and should not — forget all the good things we’ve been able to do in 2020.” Compton also discusses challenges facing the transportation industry and IBTTA’s role in fostering positive change.

Connecticut Lawmaker Resigns To Take A State DOT Job

Associated Press reports, Connecticut State Senator Carlo Leone (D), a supporter of toll financing, has resigned his seat and joined the state’s DOT as a special adviser to commissioner Joseph Giulietti. Leone’s specific duties have not been announced, but Governor Ned Lamont suggested he will have a role in coordinating state efforts to obtain federal transportation funding.

Take A Virtual Tour of Manila's Newest Tollway

Manila Bulletin presents a video tour of the 11.2-mile Skyway Stage 3 elevated expressway opened by the San Miguel Corporation last week. The video includes statistics and trivia about the project, and it’s even presented in real time to check SMC’s promise about end-to-end travel time. The newspaper notes, motorists are enjoying introductory toll free use of the facility, but will eventually need to obtain an RFID sticker.
