VDOT Re-Releases RFI on I-64 Expansion Project Toll System

The Virginia Department of Transportation has re-released its I-64 Expansion RFI, which concerns the toll system requirements and toll systems integrator scope envisioned for the I-64 Express Lanes Expansion. The RFI now includes updated questions based on new information to further inform future procurement activities. Firms not previously engaged in the RFI process are invited to address any of the questions included in the RFI, while firms that have already been engaged are invited to address questions 4, and 8-14 in section 8 of the procurement document. In addition, VDOT is now inviting all experienced, interested firms to participate in an Industry Webinar scheduled for February 14, 2020.

PA Turnpike Extends Deadline for Public Comment on Tunnel Project

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission has extended the deadline for submitting public comment on the Allegheny Tunnel Transportation Improvement Project to February 27. The extension’s purpose is to ensure that the commission receives input on the project’s six identified alternatives from everyone who chose to submit a comment form via ordinary mail. Illinois Tollway Mounts All-Hands Response to Snowstorm

The Illinois Tollway Authority announced that it deployed its full fleet of 196 snowplows in response to a snowstorm that is affecting greater Chicago through today, “causing variable road conditions and reduced visibility that could delay drivers during their evening and morning commutes.” The announcement added that a “full complement of more than 200 staff and supervisors [are] working per shift to ensure that roadways are kept clear of snow and ice.”
