ClearRoad's Ecotoll Payment App Can Be Used In 16 More States

Ecotoll, the mobile toll payment app from transportation technology developer ClearRoad, can now be used in 16 states, in addition to the California markets where it was launched earlier this year. The expansion — into states including Florida, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, North Carolina and Pennsylvania — was announced in a news release that added the company plans to add additional states to its coverage area before the end of the year. The pay-as-you-go app allows a user to maintain one account for multiple vehicles, including personal cars, rental cars and motorcycles.

Potomac Local News reports, Transurban announced that this year’s Thanksgiving travel period (the 72 hours between November 22 and November 24) was the second busiest in the 10-year history of the firm’s northern Virginia express lanes network. “More than 155,000 customers took the lanes, with nearly one in four traveling for free at least once with an E-ZPass Flex set to HOV mode.” Transurban recently commemorated the tenth anniversary by releasing a poll of drivers and a report detailing the travel time savings and regional economic impacts delivered by the express lanes.
