Our solutions comprise radio communication via micro waves, vehicle tracking via GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite Systems), ALPR (Automatic License Plate Recognition) video tolling, and vehicle classification via video and laser sensors LVDC (Laser Vehicle Detection and Classification). Our systems can manage operations for areas ranging from individual roads to entire regions, and can be modified for distance-based or time-based charging.

Kapsch TrafficCom is seeking a Commercial Operations Solution Architect for either our McLean, VA or Austin, TX office.

The Commercial Operations Solution Architect will be responsible for translating customer service center and commercial back office technical requirements into an end-to-end solution architecture to be presented and discussed through diagrams and written documentation. This individual will understand and look for continuous improvement of the entire solution offering for the Kapsch commercial operations offering.

In this role, the Commercial Operations Solution Architect will:

  • Monitor market trends and project requirements for commercial operations offerings
  • Perform functional analyses and design the solution architecture and lead technical solutions
  • Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for commercial operations in developing responses to RFP’s and RFI to system requirements
  • Develop project documentation such as specifications, testing matrices, and user guide drafts
  • Identify solution cost optimization alternatives and alternative implementation. guidance which maintain technical compliance to the project requirements.
  • Identify, develop scope of work and provide technical leadership in identifying, selecting and working with subcontractors
  • Interface with internal as well as external customers in expressing the company’s solution offering and direction
  • Prepare technical diagrams and detailed design documentation to describe solution offering
  • Reviews and understands all assigned Statement of Work (SOW) prior to delivery

Qualified candidates will possess a BS in System Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Candidates should have at least 3 to 5 years of related solution architecture experience in the implementation of Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). This experience should provide a good understanding of payment processing, audit, and financial reconciliation. Exposure to IVR/ACD/PBX call center operations technical concepts. Exposure and understanding of an electronic roadside solution specifically how transactions are generated, validated, and sent to the commercial back office is preferred.

Technically, candidates should possess an understanding of: data architecture, reporting architecture, and related considerations (hardware, software, performance); design patterns, service-oriented architectures, and N-tier solutions; technical requirements for delivering a commercial back office solutions within the electronic tolling industry; and exposure to the technical requirements for multi-modal transaction based operations (transit, ferry, and transportation related e-commerce) is preferred but not required.

A strong desire to continuously improve and develop technical knowledge in areas such as relational & NoSQL databases, cloud-based computing, ecommerce transactional processing, and call center infrastructure (IVR, IP based phone systems, virtual call center reps, etc.) optimization is essential.

Candidates should be familiar with the following technical tools: Microsoft .NET; HTML5/CSS/JavaScript; Oracle PL/SQL, SQL-Server; MongoDB, Linux, XML, SOA. Visio, MS-Project; Office; and Atlassian Suite.

Travel in this role is estimated to be 35% domestic and possibly 10% international.
