OH Turnpike Issues RFP for Toll System Project Management Services

The Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission issued a request for proposals for a consultant to perform project management services in support of its toll collection system modernization project. The project manager will represent the commission’s interests during the design, construction, installation and integration of its new toll collection system. Requests for copies of the RFP or questions about the procurement should be directed to purchasing@ohioturnpike.org.

FDOT Launches Construction of Wekiva Parkway's Final Section

WOFL reports, contractors have started construction of the final section of the Wekiva Parkway in Seminole County, Florida. The 1.3-mile project will reportedly expand SR 46 to six lanes and make other “non-tolled improvements” to the highway. The article notes that FDOT and the Central Florida Expressway Authority have so far completed 13 miles of the toll road, which will eventually form an all-electronically-tolled beltway around metro Orlando.

Caltrans Announces Completion of Bay Area Toll Bridge Repair

The Mercury News reports, workers have finished replacing 31 Richmond-San Rafael Bridge expansion joints and the surfaces around them. Earlier this year, chunks of cracked concrete fell from the joints onto the bridge deck, damaging some cars but causing no injuries. The replaced joints were installed during the bridge’s construction in 1956.

Government Expects New ETC System to Curb Delhi Toll Plaza Congestion

The Financial Express reports that traffic jams at 13 Delhi toll plazas “may soon be thing of past!” because local government has installed an RFID toll collection system tied to pre-paid accounts. Toll tags are being issued to commercial vehicles. According to the article, the government maintains that the new system will also help reduce the capital region’s air pollution because the tag registration system identifies old, polluting vehicles that authorities can eventually bar from entry.
