Caltrans Upgrades Bay Bridge Seismic Dampers

Bay City News Service (via SFGATE) reports, Caltrans work crews will be upgrading seismic dampers — devices that prevent structural damage from occurring during earthquakes — on the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge’s west span over the next three nights. Lane and ramp closures will disrupt bridge traffic between 11 PM and 5 AM starting tonight.

RITBA Bridge Deck Replacement Project Progresses Ahead Of Schedule

The Providence Journal reports, the second phase of the Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority’s 2020 Newport Pell Bridge deck rehabilitation work was completed a month ahead of schedule. Next week, preparation for the third and final phase will get started. Beginning the week of August 13 and continuing through November, workers will be carrying out hydro-demolition and milling work on the bridge’s eastbound passing lane and accelerating work on another area of the roadway.

RITBA announced that the work will require lane adjustments and a speed limit reduction.
