MTC Announces Forthcoming RFP For Clipper Customer Service Center Contract
The Metropolitan Transportation Commission announced plans to issue an RFP next month in connection with its initiative to create the Next Generation Clipper® Fare Payment System (C2). The September RFP will focus on requirements for the C2 Customer Service Center Contract to be entered into with a vendor. According to the announcement, “MTC and its partner transit operators are particularly interested in receiving Proposals from firms or teams who are offering proven, current customer services operations, with specific proposals for customizing those operations to meet the needs of the San Francisco Bay Area and Clipper transit operators.”

Transportation Today reports, the $34 million project involved restoring the granite pedestals that support the bridge’s huge towers. MTA’s contractor, Kiewit Infrastructure, completed work three months ahead of schedule and under budget. Janno Lieber, MTA construction and development chief, gave kudos “to our workforce, our partners in organized labor, and the contractors who kept this project going safely during the COVID crisis so our transportation network — including our bridges — are ready as people return to work.”

CBS News Philadelphia reports that a suburban Philadelphia trucking company that allegedly owes the Pennsylvania Turnpike almost $27,000 in tolls and fees is the latest to face criminal prosecution for theft. According to the article, the case is the first of its kind to be brought in Montgomery County since the Montgomery and Bucks county district attorneys joined in an enforcement campaign with the turnpike.
