Prosecutor: Shooting of Former PA Trooper in Toll Booth Robbery Was Justified

Pennlive.com reports, “The shooting of former state trooper Clarence Briggs last March at a Pa. Turnpike toll plaza in Fulton County was justified, the county’s district attorney says. Retired state trooper Briggs, 54, of Newville, was fatally shot March 20 after he killed two [an employee of the Pennsylvania Turnpike and a private security guard] in an attempted robbery of the Fort Littleton toll plaza.”

FDOT Expects Fall 2017 Start for TBX Construction

WTSP-TV News (Tampa) reports that drivers can expect the TBX project to take a long time to complete, but FDOT “is hoping to have shovels in the ground by fall 2017.” A spokesman tells the station, “FDOT plans to work with elected officials, as well as people who live in areas that could be affected by TBX, to solve any problems they have.”

Tampa Bay Times: MPO Made Right Call on TBX

Tampa Bay Times editors contend, “Hillsborough County did the right thing this week by moving ahead with Tampa Bay Express, the state’s controversial and costly plan for improving the region’s interstate system. While TBX has flaws that need to be addressed, it made no sense at this early stage to reject billions of dollars in state transportation improvements.”

FOX 13 News (Tampa) reports that, “Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn admits the project isn’t perfect, but is badly needed.”
