Kapsch TrafficCom is seeking a Field Technician for our office in Jeffersonville, IN.

The Field Technician will perform on-site or in-house servicing, repair and installation of company products and helps with maintaining inventory. This job includes all aspect of field support and installation, and is not limited to electrical, data, and fiber optic cable installation; conduit and pull box installation; and pole and foundation installation.

In this role, the Field technician will be expected to:

  • Install equipment such as cameras, laser and other detectors, and controller cabinets
  • Install electrical conductor, data conductor, and fiber optic cable
  • Install pull boxes, conduit, poles and foundations
  • Terminate and tip electrical, data, and fiber cable
  • Connect conductors to equipment to make equipment work correctly
  • Connect electrical conductors to power services to energize equipment
  • Test devices to ensure they work correctly
  • Prepare logs to keep track of field conditions and installation activities

Qualified candidates will possess a High school diploma or general education degree (GED) along with technical school education and 5 years of relevant experience. Candidates with a Bachelor’s Degree are preferred.

Relevant experience would include completing various installation and maintenance tasks for electronic equipment such as highway dynamic message signs (DMS), CCTV Cameras, microwave vehicle detectors, fiber optic cable communications equipment, Ethernet data communications / switching equipment, control cabinets, miscellaneous pipe work, and miscellaneous electrical work (low voltage).

Experience in Intelligent Transportation Systems, Tolling, or Defense Industry preferred.

Candidates should have the following: Working knowledge of the practices, tools, equipment and materials utilized within the electronic and mechanical trades; knowledge of advanced electronic theory; knowledge of Networking; knowledge of High Frequency Systems; advanced Computer Skills; basic Linux knowledge; basic SQL knowledge; able to read and interpret blueprints, construction and assembly drawings; able to calculate materials and supplies required to perform work; read and interpret technical manuals

Candidates must have a clean driving record with no moving violations within past two years, and have experience operating a bucket truck.

Candidates should be aware that this role involves outside work along the freeway approximately 80% of the time.

Candidates should be aware that this role involves working multiple shifts to include weekends and limited overnight travel may be required.
