US House Committee Take Up Transportation Funding Renewal Tomorrow
Transport Topics reports, “The Democratic leadership in the U.S. House of Representatives plans to make good on its pledge to pass some type of an infrastructure bill by July 4. And the path toward that goal runs through the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. [Tomorrow], the transportation panel is scheduled to consider its Investing in a New Vision for the Environment and Surface Transportation, or INVEST, in America Act, a five-year, $547 billion meant to update much of the country’s mobility networks. Rep. Peter DeFazio (D-Ore.) insists the legislation departs from the Eisenhower-era viewpoint of highway policy to facilitate access to new and existing technologies.” (Link inserted by TRN)

The Transportation Research Board announced it will host a webinar on June 21 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM Eastern on connected and automated vehicle infrastructure systems (CAVIS). Presenters will discuss current and future technology, procurement considerations from state and local government agency perspectives and use cases for both highway and transit CAVIS. TRB notes that it has information on connected and automated vehicles available on a blog, Research Helps Connected and Automated Vehicles Steer Closer to Reality, and it is hosting the virtual 2021 Automated Road Transportation Symposium from July 12-15, 2021.

Washington State DOT announced that this week it is mailing a final batch of toll bills to customers without a Good To Go! account “prior to an approximately two-week closure to transition to a new Good To Go! system and call center. WSDOT will stop mailing toll bills to allow customers time to pay their outstanding bills prior to the two-week closure, approximately June 18 through July 5. As part of the closure the Good To Go! website, MyGoodToGo.com and the Good To Go! call center will be offline, so customers will be unable to make a payment or reach customer service.”
