Kansas Officials Break Ground On Express Lanes Project

WDAF reports, Kansas state and local officials held a groundbreaking ceremony for the 69 Express project in Overland Park yesterday. Kansas DOT, the Kansas Turnpike Authority and the city are collaborating to add a tolled express lane in each direction to the state’s busiest highway in the expectation it will relieve congestion. Governor Laura Kelly (D) called the project, which will take two years to complete, “a smart investment for our state,” and added it will support growth in Johnson County.

Initial construction of the $710 million facility got underway last month.
