Maryland Schedules Opening Of Fort McHenry Tunnel ORT Lanes

WBAL-TV reports, a forthcoming traffic pattern change is the next step in the Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) project to convert the Fort McHenry (I-95) Tunnel in Baltimore to open-road tolling (ORT). On Sunday, January 15, weather permitting, two southbound ORT lanes equipped with new gantry-mounted collection equipment will open to traffic. Two other lanes passing through the obsolete toll plaza will continue to operate, but the toll payment displays will be deactivated. MDTA expects to open new northbound ORT lanes later this month or in early January.
