Upper Midwest Sees The Onset Of Winter Driving Conditions

WBND reports, the season of snow and ice has started in the upper Midwest. Yesterday morning, drivers in the Michiana region experienced slick and snowy road conditions that triggered 19 “slide-offs” and 15 crashes (none involving serious injury). Rick Fedder, the Indiana Toll Road’s chief operating officer, urged motorists to avoid following too closely and adjust their speed to road conditions. “A lot of times, you see those trucks that may have slid off the road or cars that may have slid off the road, a lot of times, speed is a factor,” he told WBND. “If you have to back it down to 45, or even less than that given the conditions of the road, do that, and you’ll avoid a lot of those situations.”
