ATA President Adopts Aggressive Stance On Truck Tolling

Transport Dive reports, “American Trucking Associations President and CEO Chris Spear touted the group’s legal and legislative victories over the past year, striking an aggressive tone during his address at the 2022 ATA Management Conference & Exhibition Monday. ‘Your association’s primary objective is winning — winning on behalf of the members of this great industry,’” Spear stated. He made a point of mentioning the association’s recent victory in the lawsuit over the constitutionality of Rhode Island truck tolls, characterizing the state’s suspended toll program as “a scam.” Spear added, “From the Eastern Seaboard to the Mountain West, any state debating a similar target on our industry has now received an unmistakable message: Don’t mess with trucking.” (The lawsuit verdict is on appeal by Rhode Island.)
