Ontario Government Shuts Down Discussion About Toronto Congestion Pricing

Global News reports, during an interview yesterday morning, Toronto mayor John Tory, a candidate for reelection, said he would be open to revisiting a parkway congestion pricing proposal he advanced in 2016 before Ontario government blocked him. Tory said he still backs a tolling solution, “something that would be very fair. It would help us to manage traffic and it would be considerate of the environment.” In response to a Global News request for comment, the Ontario transportation ministry said it disagrees with Tory. “Our government will not be imposing any new tolls on any roads in Ontario,” the ministry stated.
