The Providence Journal reports, “A little less than a month after U.S. District Court Judge William E. Smith found the state’s truck tolling system unconstitutional and the tolls were shut off, the Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority has filed notice to appeal the ruling” to the US Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. The Rhode Island Trucking Association and Governor Dan McKee’s Republican challenger, Ashley Kalus, immediately issued statements criticizing the appeal.
