Transport Topics reports on this week’s announcement of the kickoff of the Joint Electric Truck Scaling Initiative. A multiyear, public-private collaboration, the project will create electric charging infrastructure to support the “largest commercial deployment of battery-electric trucks in North America.” A planned 100-truck fleet will operate between the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach and a Schneider facility located inland. When it reaches full operation in 2023, the fleet will displace the use of millions of diesel gallon equivalents of fuel.
