MTA Spotlights Its Initiative To Expand Economic Opportunities For MWBEs

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority issued a news release on Martin Luther King, Jr., Day to commemorate ten years of achievement by its Small Business Development Program, which provides minority- and women-owned business enterprises with both mentoring and “capacity building opportunities.” To date, the program has awarded 455 contracts valued at $480 million and helped create or maintain more than 11,520 jobs. The release also notes that MTA Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer Michael Garner appeared in a PBS special broadcast yesterday, “New York State Celebrates Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.: Civil Rights Then and Now.”
