Possibility of Legionnaires Disease Contamination Closes MDTA Facility

WBFF reports, “The Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) says its administration building at the Interstate 895/Baltimore Harbor Tunnel toll plaza will close [today] as Maryland Health officials test for the possible source of legionellosis [Legionnaires Disease],” which two authority employees contracted. The facility’s staff and tunnel toll collectors were placed on administrative leave, according to the report, which adds that the I-895 cash tollbooths will operate on a video tolling basis until collectors return.

MDTA issued a news release on the closure.
