WBEZ looks at the Illinois Tollway’s investment in “smart road technology” as part of the massive $2.5 billion project to “replace, expand and update the entire [Jane Addams Memorial Tollway] for the first time since original construction in 1958.” The smart road technology accounts for $33 million of the project cost.
