Newspaper Argues for Creation of Puget Sound Regional Transportation Board (with Tolling Authority)

The Herald editorial board contends that Puget Sound’s four counties need a regional transportation system managed by a board of representatives directly elected by voters. The proposed entity “would keep as a block grant the tax revenue it generates within its borders from the gas tax, vehicle tabs and other sources and use it for regional transportation needs. It would also have the ability to levy its own taxes and set regional tolls.”
