CRRMA’s César Chávez Express Toll Lanes Still Running a Deficit

KFOX14 reports that the Camino Real Regional Mobility Authority’s César Chávez Express Toll Lanes facility has a combined operating deficit of about $593,000. Although annual revenue increased between 2014 and 2016 (from approximately $107,000 to $331,000), operating expenses also grew (to about $502,500 in 2016). CRRMA executive director Raymond Telles tells the station, “You can expect those numbers to be lower because [the toll lanes] are not connecting to any other facilities,” but “Borderwest Expressway – the huge project, 639 million roughly – that’s being built from downtown [El Paso] to the west side will connect to César Chávez.”
