Crain’s Chicago Business (subscription required) reports that a new $800 million Facebook data center will be located near a DeKalb County segment of the Reagan Memorial Tollway (I-88), which happens to have a “major fiber-optic link running alongside it.” The article notes that Chicagoland, because of its size and geography, “has long been one of the nation’s telecommunications hubs. It’s the nation’s fourth-largest data center market, but it’s one-fourth the size of the leader, Northern Virginia. . . .”
