Judge Schedules Hearing on FDOT's Failure to Increase Garcon Point Bridge Tolls

News Service of Florida (via Florida Politics) reports, a Leon County, Florida, circuit judge will hear argument on Wednesday (February 26) on a bondholders’ motion to compel Florida DOT to to increase tolls on the financially troubled Garcon Point Bridge. UMB Bank, the bondholders’ representative, filed the motion after FDOT failed to carry out a previous court order to raise tolls by February 1. The article notes, “The dispute stems from about $95 million in bonds that the state-created Santa Rosa Bay Bridge Authority,” which is now moribund, “issued in 1996 to pay for construction of the bridge. . . “
