Lee County, Florida, Will Offer New Multiprotocol Transponder In 2022
WFTX reports, Lee County, Florida, commissioners approved a plan to give drivers the option to purchase (at approximately $20) a multiprotocol transponder that will be operable throughout the state and the entire E-ZPass network. The county’s implementation costs will consist of $60,000 for an internal toll system software upgrade and a one-time $200,000 payment to the Central Florida Expressway Authority, which will process the transponder transactions. The county will source the new “LeeWay Plus” transponders from TransCore.

Transport Topics and CNBC report, Amazon Web Services’ cloud computing unit yesterday experienced major technical problems that, among other things, disrupted Amazon warehouse and delivery operations. The unspecified IT issues temporarily shut down applications and websites that drivers and warehouse workers — especially those located in the eastern US — depend on to do their work. CNBC notes that Amazon now relies on internal resources to deliver about two-thirds of its own packages in the US.
