November 29, 2018 — “Western Access to and from O’Hare International Airport is now closer to reality with the Memorandum of Understanding reached today between the Illinois Tollway and Union Pacific Railroad.
The Memorandum of Understanding, coupled with the Illinois Tollway’s June 2018 Letter of Intent with Canadian Pacific, is another significant step in the process of resolving issues related to Western Access, and the I-490 connection to I-294.
These developments represent a substantial step toward the modernization of Illinois’ road and railway infrastructure in the region. The parties are now engaged in reaching final agreements which they are hopeful will be executed in the near future.”
