November 9, 2017 — The best way for Elizabeth River Tunnels customers to save money—even those who only use the tunnels infrequently—is to switch to E-ZPass. When you use E-ZPass, not only do you save on every single trip through the Downtown and Midtown tunnels, you also save all over Hampton Roads. Those savings will be even more important in the new year. The agreement between Elizabeth River Crossings, LLC and the Virginia Department of Transportation includes periodic toll increases over the life of the contract, and the next one goes into effect January 1, 2018. As of that date, tolls at the Elizabeth River Tunnels (Downtown and Midtown Tunnels) will increase to the following:
This toll increase is in accordance with Exhibit J to the Comprehensive Agreement between Elizabeth River Crossings OpCo, LLC (ERC) and the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) relating to the Downtown Tunnel/Midtown Tunnel/MLK Extension Project (The Elizabeth River Tunnels Project).
