Illinois Tollway Issues Eight Construction And Engineering Contracts

Last week, the Illinois Tollway Authority board approved eight construction and professional engineering services contracts with an overall value of more than $68 million. Awardees included:

  • F.H. Paschen, S.N. Nielsen & Associates for two toll plaza improvement projects ($10.9 million)
  • K-Five Construction Corp., Chicago, for systemwide pavement repairs ($7.7 million)
  • Hanson Professional Services, Oak Brook, IL, for master plan design of Veterans Memorial Tollway interchange improvements ($35.3 million)
  • Atlas Engineering Group, Northbrook, IL, for construction management services related to Reagan Memorial Tollway toll plaza improvements ($4.6 million)
  • OSEH Inc., Oak Park, IL, for construction management services related to Jane Addams Memorial Tollway pavement and structural preservation ($2.7 million)
  • Terra Engineering Ltd., Chicago, for construction management services related to Jane Addams Memorial Tollway toll plaza improvements ($2.6 million)
  • Jacobs Engineering, for design services on the I-490 Tollway Project ($2.5 million)
  • Valdes Engineering Co. (Valdes Architecture and Engineering), Lombard, IL, for construction management services related to Veterans Memorial Tollway fiber-optic improvements ($2 million)

The January contract awardees included 29 certified disadvantaged, minority- and women-owned business enterprise firms, as well as 10 certified veteran-owned firms, and five Partnering For Growth mentoring program agreements. Tollway executive director Cassaundra Rouse commented, “Through its construction projects the Illinois Tollway is creating opportunities to build and improve businesses along with our roads and bridges. The Tollway is committed to assisting new and growing businesses to get a foothold in the industry and we appreciate the support from firms willing to mentor each other through Partnering for Growth.”
