The country’s 2025 budget includes several major affordability initiatives aimed at helping both citizens and businesses, News Room Guyana reports. In addition to slashing electricity rates by 50 percent, tolling for all vehicle types will be abolished at the Demerara, Berbice, and Wismar River bridges, including the new Demerara Bridge scheduled to open mid-year. The value of the toll relief is estimated at GYD 3.5 billion (USD 16.7 million) per year.
