The Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission (DRJTBC) announced today that cash toll collection will end at its three low-traffic-volume toll bridges — New Hope-Lambertville (Route 202), Portland-Columbia (Routes 611, 46, 94) and Milford-Montague (Route 206) — at 11:00 PM on June 16. In January, DRJTBC introduced an image-based tolling option (TOLL BY PLATE) at all its spans as an initial step toward full conversion to all-electronic tolling. The suspension of cash collection at the three bridges is a step in the transition process. Cash collection will continue for now at DRJTBC’s five other toll bridges. “These higher volume bridges are expected to convert to cashless all-electronic tolling by January 2025. The Scudder Falls Toll Bridge has been a fully cashless operation since its first span opened in 2019.” Today’s announcement summarizes the next steps in the commission’s conversion process.
