The Boston University Statehouse Program (via MetroWest Daily News) reports on Massachusetts DOT’s complete redesign and reconstruction of the I-495 and Massachusetts Turnpike (I-90) interchange, The first signs of construction activity are appearing this week as crews install temporary traffic barriers for the $466 million project that won’t be completed until mid-2027. “Construction and replacement of the ramps will extend three-fourths of a mile in each direction of the interchange” and will completely transform the highway corridor, according to MassDOT official Barry Lorion. The state has contracted with the construction firms Barletta, O&G Industries and Aetna Bridge, and the design firm VHB to execute the project.
