KIII News reports on signs of renewed progress in the construction of TxDOT’s nearly $1 billion US 181 Harbor Bridge replacement project in Corpus Christi. “[S]ince TxDOT and Flatiron Dragados agreed to re-start work in October, overlapping construction has helped the project move forward, said TxDOT District Engineer Valente Olivarez Jr.” Crews are currently working on tower foundation footings and I-37 approaches to the new span. Construction was halted for months before the state and the Flatiron/Dargados JV managed to begin resolving several major design concerns. Olivarez said TxDOT plans to release more information about the design after an outstanding issue is addressed this month.
