The Daily American (subscription required) reports, “A portion of the tolls paid at Somerset’s Pennsylvania Turnpike booth funds mass transit in Philadelphia. In fact, about $450 million a year in turnpike toll money goes toward transit projects across the state. It’s a spending plan that State Rep. Carl Walker Metzgar, R-Somerset Township, finds intolerable. He believes a New York lawsuit may set precedent to repeal the plan and keep more of the turnpike’s estimated $1.1 billion in yearly revenue under turnpike control.” [Link added.]
