E-ZPass Transponder Sales Rise With Opening Of New PA Turnpike Segment

Observer-Reporter reports, the recent opening of the Pennsylvania Turnpike’s Southern Beltway extension has increased the demand for E-ZPass transponders in greater Pittsburgh. Two AAA branches saw sales increase to the point that they are now out of stock and awaiting new supplies. Trade has also been brisk at outlets of a local supermarket chain. “Unlike supply chain problems across the country that are slowing commerce, the E-ZPass situation appears to be driven strictly by the demand brought on by the Southern Beltway.” PTC spokesperson Renee Vid Colborn says the agency has seen “a great response” to the opening of the new highway. An official report on transponder sales will be issued at the end of this month.
