Commentary: US Travel Costs And Frustrations Rise With The Decline In Transportation Investment
No matter what form of transportation they use, Americans don’t move about as quickly or effortlessly today as they did 50 years ago, observes veteran journalist New York Times. Far Eastern Electronic Toll Collection Company (FETC International) announced that its managing director, Dr. YC Chang, has received an ITS World Congress Lifetime Achievement Award. According to the firm’s news release, Mr. Chang “has been the driving force in introducing RFID, AI, big data, cloud computing and other innovative digital technologies into Taiwan [multilane free-flow tolling].” The honoree expressed thanks for the award, which he considers an acknowledgement of Taiwan’s contributions to the development of electronic tolling and intelligent transportation systems.
