Cleveland Celebrates Completion Of "Opportunity Corridor" Funded By Turnpike Tolls

Cleveland.com reports, “Cleveland, Cuyahoga County and Ohio officials gathered [yesterday] to hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the long-awaited Opportunity Corridor Boulevard between Interstate 490 and University Circle.” The three-mile “urban boulevard with a wide median, multi-use path and traffic lights at intersections” was designed as an alternative to a freeway that would have slashed through and bypassed a low-income neighborhood. The article notes that Ohio Turnpike toll revenue was a major source of funding for the facility, which opens to traffic on November 12.
