USACE Is Accepting Public Comment On FDOT's Golden Glades Interchange Project

The US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) has opened “a 15-day public comment period for the Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) and Proposed Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for proposed improvements to the Golden Glades Interchange bridges and other infrastructure on the Biscayne (C-8) Canal in Miami-Dade County, Florida.” USACE’s announcement notes that the massive FDOT project will reconfigure an interchange where I-95, Florida’s Turnpike, the Palmetto Expressway (SR 826), and three other major routes converge. Planned improvements include replacing three bridges, installing a subaqueous fiber optic conduit and significant work on drainage outfalls. More information, plus links to the EA and proposed FONSI, are published at www.saj.usace.army.mil/Sect408GGInterchange. Comments will be accepted via email and are due by May 18.
