PANYNJ Officials Vow To Crack Down On Scofflaw Truckers

NJ.com reports, “On any given day, trucks roll through Port Authority of New York and New Jersey toll plazas displaying fake license plates, unreadable license plates, an E-ZPass transponder for a smaller, lighter vehicle or if they get a toll bill in the mail, it gets ignored, officials said. In a year where coronavirus-related revenue losses threaten to take a $1 billion bite out of the authority’s treasury, that unpaid toll money is missed. Simply said, officials are done with these scofflaws and vowed to step up enforcement.” At a board meeting yesterday, authority chair Kevin O’Toole said, ““We need a public conversation about what to do. We need to work with legislators in New Jersey about reciprocity.”
