Delaware Memorial Bridge Cash Toll Rates Change April 1
The Delaware River and Bay Authority (DRBA) announced that the first phase of a Delaware Memorial Bridge toll rate adjustment plan will take effect on April 1. Tolls paid in cash will increase by $1.00 for passenger vehicles and by $1.00 per axle for commercial vehicles. E-ZPass rates for all classes of vehicles and DRBA discount plans will not change.
The plan’s first phase — it was approved last year — is intended to encourage more bridge users to adopt E-ZPass. DRBA states, “Neighboring toll agencies are expected to proceed with cashless tolling operations soon and the Authority needs to be prepared for that eventuality.” The authority hopes to increase electronic tolling adoption by customers from the current rate of 79 percent to 90 percent.
A second phase of toll rate adjustment will occur at the earliest after January 1, 2027, and it could affect all customers. Its purpose will be to increase revenue needed to finance a $550 million investment in bridge maintenance and other capital projects.
A revised rate chart is included in the DRBA announcement.

CTV News reports, starting the evening of Friday, March 14, the Angus Macdonald and A. Murray MacKay Bridges will undergo separate weekend closures for the removal of tollbooths. Halifax Harbour Bridges (HHB), the operating authority, is undertaking the work pursuant to the Nova Scotia government’s decision to permanently end tolling by April 1. HHB believes most of the demolition can be completed over two weekends. However, it is urging motorists to be alert for work that will take place when the bridges are open to traffic.
