Maine Awards $1 Million In Grants For Workforce Transportation Projects

Maine Governor Janet Mills (D) recently announced three grants totaling nearly $1 million in connection with a workforce transportation pilot that is part of her broader employment initiative. The grants, administered by Maine DOT, support innovative local and regional programs aimed at connecting workers with employers through transit services, ridesharing and vanpools. Said Mills, ““Lack of transportation shouldn’t be a barrier that keeps anyone who can work from holding a job — especially at a time when Maine businesses desperately need workers. These investments . . . will support innovative projects that help to connect workers with the Maine businesses that need them.”
