E-470 Board Votes To Keep Toll Rates At 2022 Level

The Denver Gazette reports, the directors of the E-470 Public Highway Authority unanimously decided during their June 15 meeting to forgo a rate adjustment in favor of keeping tolls and discounts at their current levels. According to an E-470 news release cited by The Gazette, outstanding bond debt stands at $1.3 billion and “$0.37 of every toll dollar goes toward paying debt service, while the rest is going to operations, maintenance, and roadway improvement projects. . . .” An authority spokeswoman added, “As of now, there are no plans to raise toll rates, but the Board of Directors will continue to monitor E-470’s traffic and revenue and capital project obligations in the future and determine rates based on the financial health of the Authority.”

Two Kapsch On-Board Units Receive TÜV Certification Of Quality And Sustainability

Kapsch TrafficCom announced that two of the on-board units used in its electronic tolling and connected vehicle solutions  — the TRP-4010 and OBU-5310 — received certification from TÜV Austria, whose testing concluded that the products, “besides being the smallest and lightest, are the most sustainable in their class.” Kapsch added that the devices, which are installed on millions of personal and commercial vehicles, “are the first electronic tolling solution elements to align with the EU taxonomy regulation on climate change.” The certifications were granted following “a rigorous assessment that considered the carbon footprint associated with every stage of the product lifecycle, including raw material sourcing, design, production, transportation, use, and end-of-life management.” (TRN inserted a link in quoted text.)
